Our Committees.

Campus Projects

Campus Projects is HURA’s primary presence on Harvard’s campus. Through an array of on-campus initiatives, we hope to both promote research on campus and create a strong community of student researchers among Harvard’s undergraduate population. Programs like the Life Sciences Undergraduate Research Fair reach out to students interested in getting involved in research and expose current researchers to different fields outside their own.

Programming

Programming is at the forefront of planning both the annual National Collegiate Research Conference (NCRC) and Harvard Science Research Conference (HSRC). Members of the programming committee single-handedly choose the keynote speakers, panelists and workshop leaders that speak at the conference.

Operations.

Operations committee (PA/Ops) facilitates the day-to-day logistics of our conferences and events. Committee tasks include arranging housing for participants, answering questions participants may have, reviewing applications, and arranging the “swag” bags for the conference. Before and during the conference, PA/Ops works in tandem with the other committees to help ensure the conference runs efficiently.

Publicity, Technology and Outreach.

PTO is focused on reimagining the way HURA is perceived on campus through organizing events, design, and, publicity. The PTO committee spearheads all outreach initiatives for HURA events, working to promote diversity and inclusivity across the scientific field and in our conferences. In addition, it manages all of HURA’s online infrastructure, including maintaining and updating the HURA and NCRC websites, handling the conference’s online logistics, and constantly trying to develop new technological tools to help HURA’s mission. With any questions about our social media, publicity, or website, please contact the PTO committee.

Finance & Social Events

Finance/Social Events is responsible for all of HURA’s sponsorship and finance related endeavors. The committee works to establish and maintain relationships with both faculty and corporate sponsors, from Harvard’s graduate schools to local companies. In addition, the committee manages all finances for the organization, including annual budgets for the Harvard Science Research Conference, National Collegiate Research Conference, HURA’s day to day operations, respectively. The committee also organizes social events such as the fall and spring HURA retreats to improve membership community.

Mentorship & Diversity

Mentorship/Diversity committee is responsible for overseeing HURA’s mentorship program, serving as the gateway to undergraduate research for many first-year students. Additionally, they will liaise with URAF to enhance access to research opportunities and support students during research funding cycles. The committee will also work to make research more accessible, extend opportunities to underrepresented groups, and ensure diversity of talks during conferences.
